In the end of June 2015, Farmers’ Club Fengdu Project (Carrefour foundation) and Wulong Project (Citi foundation) together organized communities’ leaders to come to visit a vegetable production base in Mugen Village. We invited the director Mr. Wang Hexing to give us a tour, training and discussion, and explain how they operate this complete system from production to marketing.

We’ve seen the changes that modern agriculture has transformed traditional agriculture, and gradually diverse agricultural models are arising which combine tourism with agriculture, connect consumer with producer, utilize technology in the production process, harnessing the e-commerce platform to encourage local sales..
This new model of vegetables production industry not only leads the development of the local economy, but also creates local employment, increase economic income, meanwhileprotecting the environment, realizing the coordination between agriculture, economy development and environmental protection.

Song Huaming, a villager’s voice from Qinggangping Village, Fengdu:
“for the future development, we need to develop products which matches market needs, so that we will meet the needs of the market.”

Luo Xianjun, another villager’s voice from Zoujia Village, Wulong:
“I’ve learned so much via this visit, such as the effect if climate change on agriculture, how to build greenhouse and scientific ways of fertilization etc. I will definitely put this into practice on my fields!”
