Since September 2020, Kunming Lake Primary School affiliated to Yunnan Normal University has joined the EU Mutual Love Yunnan Low Carbon School pilot project for nearly 3 years. During the period, we actively cooperated with various project activities, took low-carbon demonstration classes as the starting point, practiced ecological civilization education and green school construction, and mobilized schools, teachers and students, and families to actively respond to climate change and achieve low-carbon environmental protection in daily study and life.

Class 1, Grade 3, Kunming Lake Primary School affiliated to Yunnan Normal University, participated in 12 demonstration classes organized by the project as the "low-carbon environmental protection learning demonstration class" in the early stage of the project. Combined with 10 demonstration classes and 2 extended demonstration classes, the knowledge points of climate change and low-carbon environmental protection were studied from easy to deep, from easy to difficult, through enlightenment, awareness learning and knowledge learning. Then to the change of habits and behaviors, and finally to the simulation practice, gradually improve the students' understanding of climate change and low-carbon environmental protection, and actively become the disseminator of low-carbon environmental protection while practicing low-carbon behavior.

In the company of the project, the students who were once in Grade One of Grade Three are now in grade five. According to the project plan and the implementation of low-carbon demonstration courses, these students who participated in the project have completed the low-carbon demonstration courses and obtained the "Certificate of completion" and "Small Chest Badge for Defending the Earth" issued by the project.

Congratulations to all the students of Class 1, Grade 5, Kunming Lake Primary School affiliated to Yunnan Normal University. In the future, they will continue to learn climate change and low-carbon environmental protection knowledge, practice green environmental protection actions, continue to spread, and promote the construction of green school.

The demonstration course of EU Mutual Love Yunnan Low Carbon School has achieved positive and obvious results, and has been unanimously recognized and highly praised by school leaders, teachers and students.

School leaders said that the low-carbon demonstration course will be integrated into the school's future curriculum design and living arrangement as a reference material, and expand the scope of non-demonstration classes to lead the whole school to continue to carry out ecological civilization education with the concept of low-carbon environmental protection and sustainable development, and also help green campus construction. And a gradual transition to low-carbon and carbon-neutral schools.

After 3 years of getting along with the students day and night, the project team members and every student are friends and good partners. Although the demonstration class has all ended, the students said that they have learned a lot about nature, climate, biodiversity and other related knowledge, and understand the seriousness and urgency of tackling climate change.

With the increasingly severe climate disaster, the students unanimously said that now and in the future will become a low-carbon environmental protection small guardian, practice low-carbon, spread low-carbon!

Project introduction:

The Yunnan Low Carbon School Pilot project was jointly funded by the European Union and the Mutual Love and People Foundation (a Spanish member of Mutual Love and People Foundation), and the Yunnan Representative Office of the International Movement Federation of Mutual Love and People (Switzerland) cooperated with the Yunnan Academy of Science and Technology Information, Southwest Forestry University, Yixing Community Development Service Center and Green Kunming. The project period is January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2023. The project first raised awareness and advocacy capacity of the partners on climate change mitigation and environmental protection issues, and achieved the goal of raising climate change awareness among 600 schools and 70,000 students and teachers, establishing emission benchmarks through basic calculations, and then implementing emission reductions. Use science, technology, innovation and other means to respond to "climate action" to accelerate environmental sustainability and promote the transition from green campuses to low-carbon and carbon-neutral schools.
