Professor Yang Congdang Visited Yunnan Academy of Agriculture Science to Instruct the “Accurate Quantitative” Cultivation Technique of Rice Planting

Recently, springtime planting is in full swing. Professor Yang Congdang, the expert who works in Yunnan Academy of Agriculture Science visited the project site of Yunnan Institute of Development in Shalatuo Township, Honghe County. He instructed the farmers on how to use accurate quantitative cultivation technique of rice planting on-site accompanied by Yin Zhenhua who is the Vice Director of Honghe County Poverty Relief Office and project leader of Yuanyang Shalatuo project in Yunnan Institute of Development. Luo Jixing, the Director of Shalatuo County Agriculture Service Center introduced the local condition of rice planting at the training. He said that every household needs to fully plant their fields because it’s the ideal time for transplanting now.

Professor Yang, Yunnan Academy of Agriculture Science introduced the accurate quantitative and standardized cultivation technique of rice planting based on recent years experience and through a combination of theory with practice. It is a cultivation system designed to achieve high yield rice planting. He told us that it requires less work and is the most economical way of using seeds, fertilizer, water and pesticide during the key stage when rice leaf grows. With the new technique, farmers can achieve maximized crop production, resource utilization, economic and ecological benefits.

The Vice Head of Shalatuo Township, technicians of Shalatuo Agriculture and Science Station and 60 households attended this on-site training, 75 people in total. Shalatuo Township Party Committee and Government attached great importance to this rice transplanting technique. There were 120 mu demonstration fields which covered 45 households in Rong Village, Botou Village Committee. The farmers need to purchase the rice seeds themselves. The fertilizer used later as topdressing in the planting was provided by Yunnan Institute of Development’s Shalatuo Project Office in Yuanyang County. Introducing this transplanting technique in Shalatuo Township laid the groundwork for improving rice production.
