Fengdu Farmers’ Club project is a participatory poverty alleviation project. The project runs for three years and is funded by Carrefour Foundation. It covers three administrative villages: Honghuapo, Baiguoyuan and Qinggangping, benefiting 1000 households. The project concept is to develop productivity, increase yield, improve income and potentially link farmers’ clubs with Chongqing Carrefour supermarket.

The project provides support to the community young entrepreneurs and some financial support to promote their own industry. The farmers wanted to realize commercial market scale. But it was difficult for them to make the first step due to budget and technical limitation. Therefore, the project provided subsidies to them and helped them to do with the industry. Meanwhile, the project provided trainings and technical support to them. Experts were invited to provide onsite guidance and suggestions. The project also regularly arranged study tour to other counties and meetings discussing technical issues for the young entrepreneurs to increase their confidence and broaden their mind.

In the mean time, other farmers could observe their industrial development process in the most direct way, which would impel them to participate in the team of development, help them to get ready and gain confidence for future development.
