The project of sustainable livelihood development in Nanjiang Village, which has been implemented for 3 years, was held at the summary meeting of Nanjiang Village Committee on 26, May 2023.

In the past three years, the project staff worked with the local government departments and local villagers , and made concerted efforts to help the construction and development of rural revitalization in Nanjiang Village with the project model of "Farmers' Clubs".

Among them, the project has established seven Farmers’ Clubs in Nanjiang Village, using the Farmers' Clubs as a platform to organize villagers to carry out organic rice ecological three-dimensional planting and the introduction of new cash crops, organize agricultural technology training, and carry out activities such as home environment improvement, traditional festival gatherings, and village cleaning. On this basis, the two sustainable operation mechanisms of Zhailitou cooperative and Aixin points exchange supermarket are derived, and they are used as a starting point to enhance the economic benefits of villagers, implement effective community governance, and carry out the revitalization of village customs and folk customs.

This summary meeting is a review and summary of the past projects, and also a new start for the future independent development of Nanjiang Village. At this critical and meaningful moment, a total of more than 20 people attended the meeting, including Xiang Shimin: Section Chief of the Rural Revitalization Bureau, Ao Jiangsha: Secretary of the Nanjiang Village Party Committee branch, Sheng Xia, project service center of HPP, cooperative managers, villagers' representatives and project personnel.

The meeting was divided into two parts: one was to visit the villagers to listen to their views and suggestions on the project; the other was to hold a meeting to review and summarize the project, exchange the impact of the project and share and exchange the next development plan of Nanjiang Village. During the meeting, the representatives of the participants made speeches about their views on the project in turn.

Among them, Ao Jiangsha, Branch secretary of Nanjiang Village Committee, has been leading villagers to actively participate in various project activities since the implementation of the project. He first expressed his gratitude for HPP for the project, and summarized four breakthroughs since the project was launched three years ago:

①　Establishing a cooperative, driving ecological organic rice planting in Nanjiang Village, realizing unified purchase and marketing, and creating a new model of sustainable livelihood development in Nanjiang Village.

②　Aixin points exchange supermarket mobilizes the enthusiasm of farmers and is a great help for the villagers’ family health conditions.

③　The women's group organizes regular activities, which strengthens the unity of the women in Nanjiang Village and arouses the enthusiasm of women.

④　 The organic rice grown has been certified, helping Nanjiang Village create a new brand. At the same time, Aojiang Sha also said that after the end of the project, Nanjiang Village Committee will continue to lead the whole village to explore new ways to continue the sustainable development of the cooperative.

The project carried out by HPP in Fengdu has also been supported by the leadership of the local Rural Revitalization Bureau, and Section Chief Xiang Shimin pointed out that five things have been done well since the project was launched.

A. Well planned, the whole project fits the local actual situation and the needs of the villagers, and its development mode is more suitable for Nanjiang Village.

B. Good service, the project team has a solid grassroots experience, always provide services for the villagers.

C. Good guidance. During the planting of rice and fruit trees, the project arranged many experts to give guidance, and the planting effect was obvious.

D. The mechanism is good. The points system and the Aixin points exchange supermarket have played a serious demonstration role and have been promoted in other villages of Fengdu County. The establishment of the cooperative has ensured sustainable development after the end of the project.

E. Good model. After the intervention of the project, the "villagers" as the center, listen to the opinions of villagers, mobilize the enthusiasm of villagers to participate, and introduce new industries to help villagers increase their income.

Subsequently, the villagers' representatives also expressed their thoughts and feelings about the project.

Zhu Chengyou said: ”The villagers' income increases, the life is better, and the villagers' participation is higher. Rice sales prices have doubled, dividends have been obtained through the cooperative, and the living environment has been greatly improved.”

Wang Xiaohong said: “The villagers' concept has changed a lot, the spiritual life has been enriched, and the development of cooperatives has united the villagers.”

Through the summary meeting, we see that the project has been recognized and affirmed by local government departments, village committees and villagers.

At present, the cooperative has been running normally, the villagers have obtained their part of the dividends distribution , and the fruit trees planted by the villagers are growing well; Villagers can exchange their points for daily necessities at the Aixin Points exchange supermarket, and women can speak boldly in public occasions and meetings...... . Although the project is over, the project activities will continue in Nanjiang Village.

The sustainable livelihood development project based on the model of "Farmers' Clubs" has brought profound and long-term influence to Nanjiang Village.

This summary exchange further reviewed the development and changes of the village in the past three years, the village will continue to innovate on the basis of this development, do a good job, and truly combine the " Famers' Clubs" to achieve unity and promote development, so that the villagers can benefit. At the same time, we also sincerely hope that the future development of Nanjiang Village will reach a new quality and help promote the revitalization of the whole village.

Project introduction:

The Nanjiang Farmers' Clubs Project in Fengdu County, Chongqing City is implemented by the Chongqing Representative Office of HPP (Switzerland) and the Poverty Alleviation and Development Office of Fengdu County after receiving support funds. Starting from February 1, 2020, the project cycle will take three years. Through the establishment of Farmers’ Clubs and core groups, the project will distribute high-quality rice seeds to villagers to carry out ecological rice pilot, plant fruit trees, raise free-land chicken, organize villagers' training, establish a direct selling cooperative with its own product brand, and build an Internet marketing platform, so as to help villagers develop appropriate productions and drive economic income growth. While fundamentally promoting rural development, the project also pays attention to improving of rural women's self-awareness, mobilizing women's enthusiasm, improving the household environment and promoting the construction of human eco-environment. At the same time, we should develop productions with women as the main force and encourage them to actively participate in the construction of family and rural production activities.
