Everyone says that children are stars in the eyes of adults.

Why should I be the one scattered in the valley?

My name is Ming Ming, five and a half years old this year, attending the Cheping preschool class. Usually my parents go out to work, leaving me to live with my grandparents.

Although they say they are far away, but every two or three days they will call my grandma, saying that they care about me, in fact, they want to see if I am obedient.

They want me be a good boy. But I will not.

I thought the days of no parental restraint would continue, and I would be able to play with Dongdong and Erwa every day, picking apples in the east of the village, fishing in the river behind the village ...... I'm not sure how comfortable that would be, but we've also agreed to take turns going to each family to watch cartoons.

But during this summer vacation - because of the epidemic – all my plans went up in smoke.

Mom and dad came back from the outside, and until the end of my vacation they did not go out.

I wasn't allowed to do this or that every day, and I had to be home by dinner time to play. To borrow my grandmother's words, usually I was a difficult child to discipline. Maybe, because my scaring dad wasn't home.

When I was still sad that my father criticized me for watching TV for a while, our teacher came to my home.

"Oh no, they are all going to complain for sure." I remembered that my mother had told me last night that the teacher would come to visit the house. I had planned that I would sneak out before it was too late, but now I couldn't run away, so I had to face it.

Just as expected, my parents told our teacher everything I did at home during the holidays, saying that I was naughty, that I didn't listen to my grandparents, that I was playful during the day and that I liked to watch TV at night.

I thought the teacher would say something unpleasant about me, but she was very gentle and told my parents that I was very enthusiastic in the school, that I helped other children, that I was physically active, and that I was great at playing outdoors and playing games.

Then she turned to me and said: "The original Ming Ming at home so naughty - ah, should it be because you want to get the attention of mom and dad, right?".

I just know that I am no more powerful than the teacher, she actually saw through all my little tricks.

After the teacher said that, they were silent for a few seconds. It was a long time before my mother said, "Actually, we miss our children outside, but we can't make money if we don't go out. Every time we called his grandmother, he would only say one or two words and then stop talking. He would never share happy or sad things...... with us. I owe a lot to my children over the years."

I have always thought that left-behind children of my age need the companionship of their parents, but they have been away from home for a long time, and sometimes I even wonder if they have forgotten me. Only when I do something wrong, they will pay more attention to me.

To my surprise, I was wrong.

Then they said a lot, but I didn't hear a word.

The teacher hurried to comfort my mother, asked my parents to let them take advantage of this time at home to spend a good time with me, interact with me more, play parent-child games with me, read picture books with me, invite me to help with housework.

Before the teacher left, he specially told my parents that I was a good boy and would soon correct all the bad habits.

After the home visit, my mum and dad were a different person. They weren't so strict about asking me to do this or that, or playing on their own phones but not allowing me to watch TV. They left more time for me.

Of course, I'm not as naughty as I used to be and I want to be a good boy who understands my mum and dad and respects my grandparents.

I used to be the star left behind in the valley, but now I am the brightest star in my parents' eyes.
