The POF project of Tengchong County of Humana People to People is supported by Tin Ka Ping Foundation. The Project takes early childhood education as its starting point and uses vacant rooms in the village as classrooms to run non-profit preschool. Parents recruit young people with junior high school education background or above and train them to become qualified preschool teachers. The course is about nature, animals, nutrition, hygiene and how to express yourself through art and music. Mixed-age classes, where children are usually 3 to 6 years old, prepare children for primary school by attending the preschool education. At the same time, the project organizes the local communities to set up parent committees to participate in the management of the preschools. With the company of preschool teachers and children of the same age level, left-behind children can grow up healthily in body and mind, narrow the gap in early childhood education between rich and poor areas, and break the vicious circle of intergenerational transmission of poverty.
